About

Yasmin (yaahss-meen) Zainab Bergemann is a 22 year old artist, organizer, and aspiring architect from New Haven, Connecticut.
She graduated from Yale University in May 2024, with distinction in her major of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology (B.S.). Her academic, activist, and design practices coalesce at the intersection of tangible social impact and systematic environmental justice.
Yasmin is currently based in Karachi, Pakistan, with the support of the Parker Huang Postgraduate Fellowship. There, she is developing sustainable and vernacular architectural methodologies for the Heritage Foundation of Pakistan. This work is directly informed by her senior thesis greenhouse study quantifying the effects grey water irrigation systems have on plant physiology.
She is a Project Associate at the Citizens Archive of Pakistan (CAP), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the cultural and historical preservation of Sindh and Punjab; and on the arts team of Kitab Ghar Karachi, a feminist progressive public library opening in October 2024.
